ROGA-1933
This is possibly of one the rarest toy’s in my collection. It is incredibly fragile being made from very thin aluminum, cardboard and wood, with a rubber band motor. The example I have is the only example I have ever seen and it includes the paper instructions and a special “note To Purchaser” and expectations of flying the toy. Apparently there is a steep learning curve to getting the plane in the air. To add to the fragility of the toy, the plane is meant to come apart. The wings, and wheels are meant to fall off if there is a crash landing.
The information below was taken from a description of the toy. I believe this toy is so rare that when the book was published there were no none examples, the author was unaware of what the toy was called, she called it “ Crash-Proof Airplane”.
Crash-Proof Airplane: 1933. 9-1/2” long X 11-3/4” wingspan.
This unique monoplane with single propeller priced at .59 cents is described in Sears catalog for fall/winter 1933: “Under proper conditions this little ship will fly a surprising distance. Happy landings every time because when crashing or striking an obstacle the wings and lightweight metal undercarriage detach themselves from the aluminum fuselage. Then you have the fun of putting the ship together again for the plane is not harmed by the crash. Equipped with a strong strand gum rubber motor.
