The one characteristic that identifies this as the 1929 version Climbing Tractor is the metal 3-dimensional driver and how he attaches to the tractor. In 1930 the drivers became less dimensional and were slid into place with a tab that was part of the tin sheet being cut out, making it one entire piece, the tab and figure. The 1929 driver has a spring-loaded clip that keeps it in place, this is a separate piece of metal and would have added time and increased cost to the assembly line process. This driver also has a separate tin wide brimmed hat, the brim is often missing.
