1941 8 ½” Tractor & Trailer
Other than two tractors Marx did not advertise any new variations of tractors in 1941. With the impending war it was in the process of becoming involved with defense and war work.
This is first of the variations to the 1941Tractor.
The following description was taken from the Greenbergs Guide to Marx Toys Vol. 2
“This tractor has a flat radiator, embossed and lithographed with vertical and bar like lines.
Priced at .59 cents in the 1941 Sears Christmas catalog, the tractor is described as being newly designed with lighter metal than the other tractors advertised with it (the others could pull 20 times their own weight). This lighter Tractor retains all the features of other Marx tractors, such as rubber treads, a speed governor, brake and strong motor.
The tractor, which is mostly orange and yellow with red and black and white accents, has black wheels and an orange hood with a yellow strip. A Lithographed motor and three yellow exhausts are on the side and a yellow and orange Marx logo and hook for attaching objects are on the back. A lithographed dashboard displays various dials.
To the right of the driver is a start/stop switch. The tractor comes with a red scraper and red trailer. “
Note the tilting action on the trailer.
