Marx 1940 Block Truck (Type 5 Example)
Made in the early 1940s this pressed steel truck measures 10” long X 4”. The Block Truck comes in several color combinations including white truck with a blue bed, green truck and a red bed with possibly more combinations.
The insert is made of light weight cardboard which sits on top of the 9 blocks of stained wood, that also sit on a red light cardboard insert. The top insert has a lithographed logo (post 1939 logo) as does the truck. The truck logo is stamped on either side of the trailer in black ink, above the logo is the word “BLOCK” and below the logo is the word “TRUCK”.
This “type 5” example of the Marx truck is designated by the grill and headlights. The identifying characteristics are the way the headlights are contoured to the fender. In earlier examples of this type of truck the headlights would stick out from the side of the grill.
