Marx made a number of these sets through out the early 1940s but stopped in 1942 during World War 2. There are sets attributed to both Sears and to Montgomery Wards. Montgomery Ward sold this particular set I believe. The tractor is referred to as the “Super Power Climbing Tractor “ in the Greenburg’s Guide to Marx Toys Vol. 2. I believe this set was introduced to compete with the various sears sets, “Super Power Climbing Tractor and 8 piece set” & “ Super Power Climbing Tractor 9 Piece Set; the only differences are the amount of attachments that came in the sets.
The Tractor is 9-1/2” and “has many features, including a brake, a special governor for smooth speed and a motor that cannot be over wound. It climbs over obstacles and steep grades and “hauls loads many tractors won’t even budge” “
“Additional all-metal items in the $2.29 set are “Two trailers, each 7 1/2” long, a 5-1/2 road scraper, 5-1/2 “ Harrow with revolving discs, 9” Derrick with windup that actually lifts loads. “
