The following description was taken from the Greenberg’s Guide to Marx Toys Vol. 1
Zippo: 1938. 9 ½” Due to changes in the 1923 Jumbo, the climbing monkey was renamed Zippo about 1938. The more elaborately lithographed Zippo monkey has fur on his face and larger eyes. His arms and legs match his brown face. The tail is thinker and sturdier though not quite as curved. The monkey wears a blue coat with a fancy white boarder and three frog closings. His vest is yellow with red buttons and bow tie, , and his sleeves and pants are red.
The Marx logo is at the base of the monkey’s coat.. Lettering on his jacket reads “Zippo”. In ads his red hat does have a tassel. Zippo sold for .25 cents in 1938. The 1949 Zippo was advertised as measuring 8 ¾” and sold for .74 cents.
