WEE RUNNING SCOTTIE: 1940, 5 ½ inches long.
The WEE RUNNING SCOTTIE is a cheerful little black dog that comes in a variety of lithograph styles. The earliest WEE RUNNING SCOTTIE is a lithographed in a blue and yellow coat with a lithograph tassel. When the key is wound the little dogs, front paws move rapidly as he runs in a large circle.
Lettering on the coat reads “WEE SCOTTIE” and “made in the United States of America”. The older Marx logo and patent number 195-9493 also appear on the coat. The patent was filed on January 26, 1933 by Heinrich Mueller of Nuremberg Germany.
Like the Scotty’s to follow this Scotty has rubber ears and a tail, two large wheels on the toys base are connected to the front paws and two small wheels wooden wheels on the back of the toy help the dog to run on the ground. The earliest WEE SCOTTIE has wooden front paws while later Scotty’s have metal ones.
