Curtis Candy Truck: 1950. 9” long.
This red plastic truck with black rubber wheels sold for 83 cents in 1950. The truck is marked in white on the door, “Curtiss Candy Company”. However, what makes this truck unique is that it came with ten packages of real Curtis candy in its dump bed. Needless to say, it is difficult to find the original candy along with the truck. The Curtis Candy Truck comes mostly in a red box lithographed to look like a building.
Marx was not the only manufacturer to combine candy with a truck. In the 1930’s Hubley made a lifesavers truck. There was a hole in the trucks rear to hold a pack of Life Savers.
Marx also made a life savers Candy Truck in the 1950’s. Instead of a dump truck Marx used a flatbed truck with stake sides to hold the ten rolls of Life Savers.
Marx also made a Curtis Candy cart. The cart is plastic and is pulled by a rabbit.
