Marx 1948 Tractor & Six-Implement set:
According to the Greenberg’s Guide to Marx toys Vol#2 this set was sold by Montgomery Ward in 1948 and it is similar to the Sears version that came with the Caterpillar tractor with hydraulic type road scarper.
To make their set different, Montgomery Ward, used the all aluminum tractor and trailer set. Measuring 8-1/2” long the tractor winds up and runs steadily in whatever direction you want it to go in. Like the Sears set it comes with a three-gang plow, a scraper, a hay-rake and mower. Also included are an 8-7/8” disc harrow that really turns and a 6-1/2” dumping trailer with balloon type metal wheels.
Note the high polish on the aluminum underside.
Its always good to smile while you work.
The pictured set is considered New Old Stock (NOS) and I believe it was never played with. The box does show some fading from sitting near a window but the toy itself is near mint and graded at 9.5 out of a 10 scale. The blue gang plow has some minimal paint loss but all the other pieces in the set are clean and shiny. Included in the set is the original instructions for attaching the plow to the front of the tractor as well as the original cardboard inset that separates and protects the implements inside of the box.
